Posted on Nov 9, 2015 6:47:04 AM by The Team at GDITo help you stay focused on having fun with friends and family, we’ve put together 12 Holiday Hacks to help you get your gifts in order and prepare your home for guests.
Last year, we published our first ever Glue Dots Survival Guide, "How to 'Make it' This Holiday Season". This year, we're back with 12 Holiday Hacks - a Glue Dots survival guide filled with tips, tricks and plenty of free printables to make your home ready for the holiday.
#1. Hang Holiday Lights with Flexible Hang Tabs - New for this holiday season are Glue Dots Flexible Hang Tabs. Use new Flexible Hang Tabs to hang your holiday lights inside or out without damage. Click here for additional ideas on how to use new Flexible Hang Tabs. Flexible Hang Tabs are available on Amazon.com.
#2. Waterless Snow Globes - Want to make your home a little more festive without breaking the bank? Grab a few mason jars, a little fake snow and a few plastic winter pieces to create waterless snow globes. Click here for the full tutorial, including where to buy supplies for this project.
#3. DIY Wooden Snowman - Here's another Holiday home decor is easy and mess-free, our DIY Wooden Snowman. We love easy DIY home decor projects that don’t require a lot of time, and this project can easily be done in an hour or two. All you need are a few supplies and Glue Dots Advanced Strength adhesive to make this adorable wooden snowman for home. Click here for instructions.
#4. Upcycled Gift Box - Have you kept a stash of boxes in good condition to re-use for presents? Designer Grace shows you how easy it is to turn plain box into a festive gift box with Glue Dots and patterned paper. All you need are Glue Dots, patterned paper and instructions, available here.
#5. Skip Tape, Stitch works great! Skip the tape dispenser and use new Stitch® Glue Squares to wrap your presents. Use Removable Glue Dots to secure wrapping paper to the package first and then use Stitch Glue Squares to secure the wrapping paper to itself as you wrap your present. You can also use Glue Dots 1" Glue Lines to wrap your presents. Click here for a quick tutorial.
#6. No More Rumpled Papers! Wrapping presents with traditional wrapping paper? Keep your wrapping paper roll tidy with Removable Glue Dots. When you're finished wrapping presents, use Removable Glue Dots to secure the end of the wrapping paper to itself to keep it from rolling away and unraveling. It's the small things that help keep us sane through the holidays.
#7. Keep Gift Bows Secure - If you’re going to use store bought, adhesive backed bows, you’ll want to keep Permanent Glue Dots® nearby. When the kids start riffling through the presents trying to guess what’s inside, the bows will probably be the first things to fall off – make sure they don’t by reinforcing them with Permanent Glue Dots. Or, give your gifts a unique look by creating your own gift bows. Click here for a DIY Gift Bow Tutorial.
#8. Free Gift Tag Printable - Need a gift tag? Give your gifts a little extra personality with our free gift tag printable. Click here to download and print. Cut them out, assemble with Glue Dots and adhere to your presents with Permanent Glue Dots too so they don't fall off.
#9. Scandi Style Cards with Free Printable - Need a quick holiday card? Julie Bonnar from CraftFocus in the UK shows you how to make Scandinavian Style Christmas cards using free printables from Glue Dots. Find the card you want to make, download the free printable and follow the instructions. They're also a great way for kids to get involved in the holidays too. Click here to see the selection of cards and to download the templates.
#10. Candy Cane Place Settings - One of our favorite holiday projects is back on the list! Having assigned seating at the dinner table is a great way to avoid uncomfortable conversations and awkward silence. Use Permanent Glue Dots to adhere three candy canes together for a cute and festive place card holder. Click here for the full tutorial.
#11. Fix Ornaments - Do the boys like to wrestle or toss the pigskin inside the house? Use Permanent Glue Dots to quickly fix any broken ornaments or home decor items as a result of rowdy play or clumsiness. Tip: Use Removable Glue Dots to hold small knick-knacks in place on the mantle or shelves around your home to prevent accidents.
#12. Designate a Coat Room - Don't give nosy family members the opportunity to rummage through your home by designating a coat room. To make it easy, we're giving you a free coat room sign! Click here to download and print. Adhere to the door of the designated Coat Room with HybriBond Repositionable Mounting Tape.
