Written by The Team at GDI | Jun 3, 2016 11:25:58 AM

Sometimes it's the little things that can make Dad happy.  If you need a small gift that's easy to put together and will still make him feel special, make a candy mug.  Pick up a mug and his favorite candy for a quick, cute Father's Day gift that he'll enjoy.  Designer Dawn shows you how to put this cute little candy mug together for Father's Day.

Designer: Dawn Mercedes Barrett
Time: 15 Minutes
Level: Beginner
Size: 5 inches (approx)

Treat your dad to his favorite treat today and a new mug future use!! Two gifts in one.

Here's what you need:

  • Pop Up Glue Dots®
  • Craft Glue Dots®
  • Removable Glue Dots®
  • Mug (get one from a dollar store)
  • Wooden skewer
  • Plastic treat bag
  • 12" of red stitched ribbon
  • Anything Goes paper pack from Echo Park
  • "Best Dad Evah" stamp set from Pretty Cute Stamps
  • Tuxedo Black ink pad
  • Dad's favorite candy
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Other embellishments as desired

Here's what you do:

  1. Cut a tie shape and knot shape out of patterned paper from Echo Park. (Tip: If you make a template out of card stock first, trace it on the back of the paper to eliminate the need to erase.)
  2. Adhere the tie to the mug using Pop Up Glue Dots or use Removable Glue Dots for easy removal.
  3. Cut the skewer down to 9 inches.
  4. Stamp a sentiment on a 3" x 1.5" piece of coordinating paper about an inch from the left side. Trim the right side of the banner as desired. Using Craft Glue Dots, adhere the banner to the skewer.
  5. Fill a treat bag with dad's favorite treat and tie it up using the 12" red stitched ribbon. Tuck the candy and the banner into the mug.

That's it! A quick and easy gift idea that he'll enjoy.
