Get A Headstart with Preschool Reading Tips

Before school gets underway, here's a tip from Designer Dawn to help your preschoolers begin to recognize words, letters and sounds.

Here's a great way to give your preschooler a head start to the new school year with some preschool reading tips.

Here's what you need:

Here's what you do:

  1. Walk with them around the house and let them select which objects they want to label.
  2. Start off with every day objects like the window, a piano, lamp, and computer.
  3. Use Removable Glue Dots to secure the index cards to the appropriate object.
  4. Be sure to post the cards at the eye level of your child so they can be easily be read by them.

As the preschooler is playing and moving about the house, he or she will start to connect the word to the object.  As they master one set of words, keep the cards for review by removing the Removable Glue Dots from the back.  Once they understand one set of words, start a new deck with more challenging words and move at your child's pace.

Looking for another great project for your little one? Designer Donna shows you how to celebrate the first 100 Days of School (she made this project with her granddaughter - super cute!) :-)

Have a great school year!
