Simple, Easy and Inexpensive DIY Decor by Glue Dots

DIY decor can be easy and inexpensive when you think outside the box. Whether you're decorating your apartment, bedroom or dorm, you want to make your space your own without breaking your budget or bank account. We put our own twist on the gallery wall idea by turning small, everyday boxes into decorations using patterned paper and Glue Dots.  This is definitely a project you'll want to add to your Pinterest boards!

If you're a first time renter or you want to decorate a room without destroying the walls, here's a DIY decor project that will allow you to add your own style and sophistication to your space without breaking your budget.

A quick tip before you begin: When selecting the right boxes for your wall, pick ones that are solid (without windows) and ones that are flat on all sides.  Sometimes boxes bow due to the unevenness of the contents inside; if your boxes are slightly bowed out, they may not adhere properly to the wall.

Here’s what you need:

• Stitch® Glue Squares
• Glue Dots® Hybribond Repositionable Mounting Tape
• Pattern Paper or Wrapping Paper (we used DCWV 11" x 17" paper for this project)
• Different sized boxes (cereal, cracker, noodle, etc. work great)

Here’s what you do:

1. Wrap each box like a present using Stitch Glue Squares. The back side of the box doesn't need to be covered completely, depending on how you wrap the box.
2. Lay your boxes out on the floor or on a table to get an idea of how you want your wall to look. Once you know how you want them arranged, adhere strips of HybriBond Mounting Tape along the edges and middle on the back of each box. Note: It is important to put the adhesive to the edges of the boxes because when they are empty applying enough pressure without destroying the box can be difficult.
3. Place your boxes on the wall and apply pressure around the edges for a secure hold.

It's amazing how much of a difference wrapped boxes can make to your space! Be sure to select a variety of paper patterns and colors that work well together and compliment the rest of your decor. It's simple, inexpensive and makes a huge impact.
