Shaped garland is such a fun way to add a touch of handmade whimsy to your décor, that we know it’s a trend we’ll be seeing for a long time. However, shaped garland can be really time consuming to make, assemble, and string all of the little pieces. Using Glue Dots® Permanent Adhesive sheets helps cut down on some of the assembly time and will have you thinking of all the different seasons you could make shaped garland for!
MADE BY: AMANDA TIBBITTS | TIME: 30 MINUTES
LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE | SIZE: 2"x2", CUSTOMIZABLE
Supplies:
- Glue Dots® Permanent Adhesive Sheets for Die Cutting
- Red Card Stock
- Teal Card Stock
- Red Glitter Card Stock
- Heart Punch (or dies)
- Baker’s Twine
- Small Hole Punch
- Scoring Tool
Directions:
- Cut card stock to 8 ½” x 5 ½”.
- Apply an adhesive sheet to the back side of each piece of card stock.
- Punch hearts from paper (You will need 4 punched hearts to create one 3D heart to string on the garland).
- Score each punched heart down the center and fold gently along the scored line to create a left and right side of the heart.
- Peel the liner off the back of 4 of the hearts. Stick the right side of heart 1 to the left side of heart 2 (adhesive side to adhesive side), matching them up as closely as you can. Stick the right side of heart 2 to the left side of heart 3. Stick the right side of heart 3 to the left side of heart 4. Stick the right side of heart 4 to the left side of heart 1. You should now have one 3D heart for your garland.
- Punch a small hole through two sides of the 3D heart and string onto the baker’s twine.
- Repeat steps 5 and 6 until your garland is the desired length.
Glue Dots® Permanent Adhesive Sheets for Die Cutting not only work with manual and electronic die cutting machines but work great with punches! Besides being super sticky, Permanent Adhesive Sheets are virtually invisible when applied, so you can make your hearts from cardstock, glitter paper, or even vellum. I love the versatility of this adhesive, and you will too.
I began crafting in 1996 and simply fell in love with making my own cards. Long live snail mail! Crafting isn’t just a hobby for me, but a way of life… Teacher gifts, posters, scrapbooks, wood crafts? Yes, please! I have been married to my cute husband for 16 years and he definitely inspires me to try new things and enjoy the little things. As a stay home Mom, my time is spent raising my two girls, and raising the bar for my gift giving!
