Balloon Rocket

We do lots of science projects at our house. When my kiddos were sick last week, I was looking for something fun to do, and we decided to make a balloon rocket.

Here's what you need:

• Craft Glue Dots®
• 10-12 feet of yarn
• Drinking Straw
• 1 or 2 balloons
• At least 2 kids (or 1 kid plus you, if your kid can blow up a balloon on his/her own)

Here's what you do:

1. Thread the yarn through the straw.
2. Without blowing up the balloon, use 2 - 3 Craft Glue Dots to stick the balloon to the straw (my balloons had a bit of powder on them, so I had to wipe off an area on the balloon, as the powder kept the balloon from sticking to the Craft Glue Dots).
3. Have one kid stand at each end of the yarn and move apart from each other until the yarn is pulled tight. Blow up the balloon, and pinch the end shut, but don't tie it shut.
4. Hand the pinched end of the balloon to one of the kids holding the yarn. Have them let go of the balloon and watch it zoom to the other end of the yarn.
5. After doing this a few times, we decided to stick a second balloon facing the opposite direction to the straw as well. That way the "rocket" could zoom forwards and backwards.
