Christmas Cans

Before you take out the trash, check to see if you threw away any soup or vegetable cans. Grab your Glue Dots, a few supplies and turn those cans into festive decorations for your next holiday occasion.  Designer Robyn shows you how quick and easy it is to make cute holiday home decor - you can even get the kids to help!

I love having fun creating new projects from upcycled materials. And this is one of those kind of crafts! So easy and so little cost and supplies needed. AND soooo cute and festive! So, here we go!

Here's what you need:

  • Permanent Glue Dots®
  • Various sized soup/tomato cans washed and dried.
  • Paint
  • Vinyl, cloth, lace and accessories as desired
  • Scissorsglue-dots-christmas-can2

Here's what you do:

  1. Take your various sized cans and decide which one you want to use for each character you are making. I used a wider can for Mrs. Claus, a taller one for Santa, a medium sized can for Rudolph, and the smallest one for my elf.
  2. Paint your cans according to the character they will be...red, brown, green...
  3. Pick up all kinds of accessories to create a fun look for each character can. I just raided my craft closet and am using cloth vinyl, adhesive backed vinyl, felt, craft foam, ribbon, etc. Have fun with it and be creative! There's no wrong answer here!glue-dots-christmas-can-finished
  4. Start creating your character's look by using your Permanent Glue Dots to adhere your accessories to each can. And enjoy the fun look!

They each turned out so fun! And I love having them sit on our coffee table full of goodies!
