A Santa inspired medallion...
When you alter the size, you can expand uses for this Santa Claus inspired Medallion. A smaller size would be sweet on a tin of Christmas Cookies. Medium sized medallions spruce up your Christmas Tree. Create an extra large medallion for a holiday wall hanging!

Here's what you need:

  • Craft Glue Dots® or Stitch Glue Squares®
  • DCWV Candy Cane Lane Stack
  • Gold Glitter Paper
  • Black Felt cut to 1" x 8"
  • Gold eyeletglue-dots-santa-medallion-supplies
  • 2 pieces of 12" red baker's twine
  • Fiskar Paper Trimmer
  • Scor Pal score board
  • We R Memory Keepers Crop-a-dial
  • Spellbinders Rectangle Nestabilities, Circle Nestabilities
  • Sizzix BigShot

Here's what you do:glue-dots-santa-medallion-finished

  1. Choose a red patterned paper from the DCWV Paper Stack. Use your Fiskars Paper Trimmer to cut the paper into three 4" x 12" paper strips.
  2. Use your ScorPal Score Board to score 1" increments along the long edge of each of the red paper strips. Fold these strips into an accordion fold using the bone folder. Have 2 of them start with a mountain peak and have the third one start with a valley fold.
  3. Use Craft Glue Dots or Stitch Glue Squares to secure the ends of the paper strips in order to form one long accordion fold strip.
  4. Circle the strip around to create a circle. Secure the ends together using Craft Glue Dots or Stitch Glue Squares.
  5. Cut out a 3.5 inch circle out of coordinating paper using your Sizzix Big Shot and Nestability dies. Adhere it to the back of the medallion for support.
  6. Use two nesting rectangle Nestabilities, gold glitter paper and the Big Shot to make the buckle shape.
  7. Use Craft Glue Dots to secure the black felt band across the red medallion. Note where you paper seams are and position the felt over them to cover them up. Secure the buckle on top using Craft Glue Dots or Stitch Glue Squares.
  8. Using your Crop-a-dial, create a hole and place a gold brad at the top of your medallion. Use the red baker's twine to make a hanger with a simple slip knot.

Tips: Be sure to crease each fold well with your bone folder. When adhering each section together, alternate mountain fold, valley fold, mountain fold to have a smooth transition between pieces of paper. When you finish off the circle, have the ends over lap completely for a stronger bond.
