Designer Dawn is on our blog today with a fantastic Father's Day gift idea! If the special father figure in your life wants a new tool chest, now you can give him one that's filled with things he can use for months to come!
Instead of a flat, lifeless coupon book, make your Dad an interactive coupon box in the shape of a red tool chest!
Level: Intermediate
Time: 20 minutes
Here's what you need:
- 1" Glue Lines®
- Permanent Glue Dots® or Ultra-Thin Glue Dots®
- 10 boxes of matches
- Basic Grey: Fact patterned paper
- 10 silver brads
- designer brads from the Eyelet Outlet
- Sentiment from Pretty Cute Stamps
- Other embellishments as desired
- Awl or tack
Here's what you do:
- Empty 10 boxes of matches.
- Use an awl or tack to poke a hole into the front of each box and add a silver brad. Tip: make a template so that all your chest handles line up.
- Cut liners out of patterned papers and adhere to the inside of each box using Permanent Glue Dots.
- Use both Permanent Glue Dots and 1" Line Glue Lines to create the basic chest look by adhering the match boxes together.
- Cut a strip of red paper to go around the entire chest and secure to the match boxes with 1" Glue Lines.
- Decorate the tool box using brads shaped like tool and screw shapes.
- On small slips of paper, write special notes to your Dad or add coupons for things like, " I will mow the lawn for you today", "Lets go fishing", "I'll wash your car", and "I love you!".
Make your notes or coupons fun and spontaneous so that he'll look forward to opening up a new drawer every day until they're gone.
What coupon or note would you write for him?
