I love decorating for holidays big or small. For St. Patrick’s Day this year I created this fun mini shamrock home décor piece. Adhering all the tiny shamrocks takes a little bit of patience, but goes much quicker with Glue Dots® than liquid glue or hot glue since there’s no drying time when using Mini Glue Dots®.
MADE BY: SAMANTHA TAYLOR | TIME: 20 MINUTES
LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE | SIZE: 6" x 6"
Supplies:
- Mini Glue Dots®
- 6” Wood Box Frame
- Dark Green Card Stock
- Light Green Card Stock
- A way to cut shamrock shapes (manual die cutting machine, electronic die cutting machine or traceable templates). I used a Silhouette Electronic Cutting Machine.
- Optional – paint or stain
Directions:
1. Optional first step: Paint or stain the frame. I used a simple whitewash on my frame.2. Cut a large shamrock from dark green paper. My shamrock is 4 ¾” x 4 ¾”.
4. Cut small shamrock shapes (about ¾” x ¾”) from light green and dark green paper.
5. Use Mini Glue Dots® to attach the large shamrock to the frame.
6. Use Mini Glue Dots® to attach small shamrocks to the large shamrock.
7. When all of the small shamrocks are added, bend the edges of the shamrocks on the top layer outward to add some dimension to the piece.
8. Use Mini Glue Dots® to add a shamrock to the corner of the frame.Notes: You can customize this project by playing around with the colors and textures of the paper you choose. Glitter paper would be especially fun, or mix in some shiny gold shamrocks with the green ones.
You can substitute Ultra Thin Glue Dots® for Mini Glue Dots® in step 4, but not in step 5.
